June 18th. A baby shower!!

Today was our baby shower for Alex.  I have never been so overwhelmed by love and support than I was today.  So many of our friends and family came today and we just feel so blessed to have such an awesome support group.  My wonderful sister had made a board full of pictures that we had taken while in Russia of our little man.  Everyone loved being able to see what he looked like.  Two of my good friends made cakes for the shower and they were absolutely beautiful and yummy too.  It was so nice to be able to share our experiences to date with everyone as talking about Alex helped to ease the pain of him not being with us right now.  Hopefully the time will continue to fly by and we will have him in our arms forever.

The amount of gifts that we received today was unbelievable.  It took almost 3 hours to open everything.  I do believe that we are going to be set with everything you could possibly need or want.  My sister had put in the invitation for everyone to bring a jar of baby food that started with the first letter of their name.  Cubbord stocked.  Check.  LOL  Not only that we are going to have the best dressed little boy ever.  We will have to change his clothes 2 or 3 times a day to ensure that he wears everything.

Poor little guy is going to be on sensory overload from all of the toys he is going to have to play with too.  They had advised us in the orphanage not to over stimulate him with things due to the fact that he didn't have anything to play with there.  We will have to hide a lot of stuff and bring it out a little bit at a time.  He even got an awesome toybox from his great aunt Martha to put all of his goodies in.  The room has been empty to this point other than the furniture that we had gotten and already set up in there.

So for today our spirits were lifted and our hearts were full from the outpouring of love we felt from each and every person that attended today.  We loaded all of the wonderful presents up and took them home to unpack and put away and are now more anxious than ever to bring our baby boy home and complete our family.
